Bugs & Rugs

In order for an area rug to be considered antique, it would have to have been woven before 1900!
Beetles and moths can chew through an entire area rug in under a year. Your rugs need to be store in the right conditions in order to properly preserve these masterpieces!
FYI – Rugs in use can also be infested and eaten. The damage can usually be found under large furniture because we often neglect to vacuum under them. Just flip your rug over and you may see damage!
At this point you may be asking yourself if there is any way to prevent this…the answer is ROUTINE!

1) Vacuuming is the number one way to prevent an infestation. Regular vacuuming is necessary to preserve the life of your rug
2) Constantly turn your rug to avoid a static are that will always remain unvacuumed
3) Get your area rug professionally steam cleaned or washed regularly!
